New
York City Comic Convention Tops 95,000 October 15, 2010
The New York Comic Convention reported the attendance of
over 95,000 fans for its Friday-Sunday, October 8-10, 2010
show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York
City. This event, the show’s fifth, also marked the
first time the New York Anime Festival was held at the same
time (admission to one show was good for the other).
Reaction from the comic book dealers we spoke with ranged
from mild to enthusiastic, with several back issue specialists
reporting no problem moving high-grade comics while there
was more bargaining going on for mid-grade specimens.
From the fans, however, it was nearly a unanimous endorsement
of the show, with perhaps the exceptions of the peak periods
on Saturday and Sunday around the Marvel and adjacent Capcom
booths, near which it was almost literally impossible to
move at those times. Despite artist alley being set up in
a different hall, that area was very well attended as well.
