Amazing 1856-D Indian Princess Gold $1 PCGS MS62- $58,750.00

Amazing Dahlonga coin. Tied for the highest. The coin offered is intensely lustrous and has deeply rich honey golden coloring. The strike is above average despite the weak “U” in United which is normal for this date. Overall the piece is quite brilliant and certainly premium quality for the grade assigned.

For the serious numismatist or investor searching for both high grade rarity as well as an exceptionally attractive gold coin, this rare southern gold specimen should delight. We show having one other coin in the same grade and grading service that we had available in 2010/at that time was available for $53,500.00 (in our archives which are available to members) Seems to be a terrific opportunity for the specialist in rare gold coins, rare southern gold coins and investors.

Please contact me by email or telephone 1-941-291-2156 to reserve this great coin.

1856-D Indian Princess Head, Large Head (Type 3) Gold Dollar. The Dahlonega Mint in Georgia was established by an Act of Congress in 1835 in response to the discovery of gold in the Appalachian Mountains. From 1838-1861 the Mint produced what would become some of the most sought after gold coins in all of United States numismatics. Southern branch mint gold coins from Dahlonega hold special allure with collectors/investors and continue to benefit from strong demand making the acquisition of original and choice pieces increasingly difficult.

If you are looking to acquire a truly RARE gold coin, look no further. This date is one of the keys to the series and continues to be in great demand in any condition making a choice piece such as this especially desirable. With an original mintage of just 1,460 pieces, less than 100 are believed to remain in existence today with a combined certified population at PCGS/NGC of JUST 4 graded MS62. This makes this a “top pop” piece at notoriously conservative PCGS. Many specimens seen from this year have been repaired or altered as well, further elevating the status of original examples such as this one.
