1861 Eagle $10 AU55 NGC CAC. NGC Census: (94/215). PCGS Population (32/50). Mintage: 113,100. Minted and used in commerce during the first year of the American Civil War. Just think of the history this coin has seen. Excellent original surfaces, choice color and scarce as heck as most owners of these coins are reluctant to sell them! Less than 3 years away from the start of the 150th Anniversary of the War and we would think that many more investors and collectors will be looking for these dates. Many collectors and investors build "date sets" with certain famous years obviously being more popular and sought after than others. Here's the first year of the Civil war a premium quality original specimen of no motto above eagle. A goal would be to find a similar quality quarter eagle, half eagle, $3.00 gold, double eagles etc A good set to put aside for a rainy day. With a green sticker from CAC (Collectors Acceptance Corp).
