February 22, 2024 - I Left My Heart in San Francisco

Hello All,

I hope all is well. The bull that came charging out January 1st is still out there buying gold coins and this leads me to believe we could be forming the greatest foundation of a bull market we've ever seen. It can be frustrating when you are trying to assemble sets be it be type sets, boxes of twenty or complete date and mint mark sets to watch coins on your want list come and go with such frequency. Some of you know how it feels to be on the seller side of the equation and as the great one Jackie Gleason used to say, "how sweet it is" especially to those collectors who showed the patience and discipline to go for the rare dates first and leave the commons for last. The collectors who have had that strategy have done the best.

Remember this is a very healthy market for good coins.

This week we are showing a selection of different denominations OF REALLY GREAT rare coins originating in California at the San Fransico Mint to choose beginning with a scarce 1867-S Quarter Eagle followed by a conditionally rare 1860-S in condition census with only 2 coins graded better, an 1874-S Half Eagle tied for finest known, then a very underrated Civil War date 1865-S Eagle, a really neat Double Die Obverse 1859-S in PCGS uncirculated condition, a select uncirculated 1861-S Double Eagle, a 1864-S Very Choice Uncirculated which is Tied for finest at PCGS. Ex-Fairmont collection, several near-gem specimens of double eagles from the SS Central America, and others, all better dated and rare United States Gold Coins for the coin collector and also the investor of rare coins. This is a phenomenal offering, some of these coins have not been seen in years and if you are assembling a San Franciso Mint Set, you know how challenging this can be!

When you see a rare coin of interest, please click to request images and to temporarily reserve the coin, giving yourself a little time to review the images that we'll send you and communicating with us that you would like us to hold the coin while you do your research.

Please also note that these are just some selections from the vast inventory of really great rare coins we have to offer. If you do not see what you are looking for on our website, send us an email or give us a call, because if it's a really rare coin, chances are we have a lead on one for you or have it in the safe!

Please contact me as soon as possible, as this is a very healthy rare coin market.

Don't hesitate to share your Want List items; we are adept at filling them, and we're discreet.
