1794 1 Cent Head of 94 (1794 1C Head of 94) NGC F12 BN. This chocolate and dark brown 1794 Large Cent shows about two-thirds of Libertys hair from the top of her head to the bottom of her neck, in keeping with the grade. The surfaces are smooth with no distractions worthy if individual mention. The coin is predominantly dark brown with tinges of light brown especially on the reverse devices. The swelling above ONE on the reverse is the result of a sunken die. As a result this die variety is called the Mounded Reverse.
Designed by Henry Voigt, the coin depicts Liberty facing right. Her hair is in heavy separated strands covering her right shoulder. From her temple, shorter, curly strands of hair are brushed back. On her left shoulder she carries a pole with a Phrygian cap on it. The cap is to the left of her head. LIBERTY is in an arc above her head, and the date is below the truncation. The reverse shows a wreath of two olive branches that enclose the denomination written as ONE CENT. The branches are tied at the bottom with a ribbon. Between the ends of the ribbon and the rim is the fraction 1/100. Around the wreath is the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The edge is lettered ONE HUNDRED FOR A DOLLAR followed by a decorative leaf.
In its population report, NGC shows 1 1794, Head of 94, S-22, certified in F12 BN with 8 better.
