1854-O Seated 50C (1854-O Half Dollar Seated) ANACS GD6. Seated Half Dollar. Despite its details grade, this Southern branch mint seated half dollar shows attractive toning which is light on the devices and dark towards the rims. The grade of GD6 is confirmed by the presence of rims on both sides. Other than LIBERTY, the date and all legends are plain and legible.
This coin is the Type 3, Arrows at the Date, No Rays design that was minted from 1854 to 1855. The previous Type 2 coin had rays added to the reverse above the eagle to indicate a change in weight from the first issue. In total there were five types of Seated Liberty Halves used from 1839 to 1891.
