Very Lusterous. Offered here is a wonderful, uncirculated example of the last Dahlonega 1859-D Quarter Eagle minted. A very popular coin for its status, this issue is scarce to rare in the higher circulated grades. True offerings of original coins, however, are rare, and should always be considered when collecting a Dahlonega or quarter eagle set. Uncirculated coins of this issue are very rare. In it's population report, there are 4 in MS61 and 6 higher.
Like the other Southern Mints coins minted at the Dahlonega Mint have seen an increase in demand for truly original coins. These original coins, however, have become increasingly hard to find as well, as many have been dipped, cleaned or otherwise damaged since they were minted. As such, a truly original 1859-D Quarter Eagle, as we offer here, is a true rarity in any grade.
