1861 Gold Dollar (1861 G$1) ANACS AU58. Civil War 1861 One Dollar Gold. This Civil War dated gold dollar has a sharp, full strike and clean, original surfaces. The strands of hair over Libertys eye and the tips of the feathers of the headdress are sufficiently separated to warrant the grade of AU58. Mint luster still adheres to the devices of this attractive piece. The appeal of the Large Head dollar coin is James Longacres uncluttered design. Miss Liberty in Indian headdress faces left. Her long hair flows down her neck. She wears a stylized, feathered tiara and is surrounded by the required inscription. The reverse contains the denomination and date centered and encircled by an open wreath of corn, cotton, wheat, and tobacco tied with a bow. Dentils are at the periphery of both sides.
