1867-S $20 NGC AU-50 The 1867-S double eagle is an issue that had a fairly high mintage, but also saw extensive circulation in the western states. As a result, most examples are either heavily circulated, damaged or both. The present piece, while in a lower uncirculated grade, is still finer than usually seen.

The present coin still displays a fair amount of luster, especially so in the protected areas. This is a feature that is not easily found on the heavy double eagles in this grade, making this a premium quality example. Lightly toned, the coin has great eye-appeal and is sure to please the discriminative collector of Liberty double eagles.
