1871 Octagonal Liberty Gold 25C, BG-767, NGC MS62. This rare, mint state fractional 1871 Octag Liberty gold piece shows lustrous, clean surfaces. The die engraving is almost unfinished, perhaps made in haste. The raised lines on the coin are die cracks.
The coin shows a left facing Liberty wearing a plain coronet. She is surrounded by thirteen poorly engraved stars with the date below. The letter G is between the truncation and the date. The reverse shows an open wreath, which is also poorly engraved, with the fraction at the top. Below is the word DOLLAR followed by CAL.
In its population report, NGC shows 7 in MS62 for the 1871 Octagonal Liberty with 6 better.
