1877-S Double Eagle, PCGS MS61. Looks better than the grade PCGS gave it. Flashy and fully lustrous, this is a representative of this San Francisco double eagle. A total of 1,735,000 coins were struck for circulation during the year, making it a great representative of the type three double eagle for a (gold) type set.

Lustrous surfaces highlight the strong strike this piece got when it was struck. Completely original, light orange-yellow color is showing on both sides. The fields are remarkably clean for the grade, making it a wonderful coin. Definitely not the average type three double eagle that usually sell for little above spot gold.
