1879-S Morgan Silver Dollar (1879 Morgan S$1) NGC MS64. This frosty, white dollar flashes with mint luster on its prooflike surfaces. A few abrasion marks in the field and on Libertys cheek keep it from a higher mint state grade. The strike is full and sharp on both sides. Issued from 1878 to 1921, Morgan dollars have long been among collectors favorite coins. The design shows a close-up head of Liberty facing left.
In her hair are a LIBERTY inscribed headband, cotton, corn, wheat, and tobacco. She wears a modified liberty cap. Above her head is the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, the words separated with dots, and the date is below. From the date to the motto on the left are seven stars with six to the right. The reverse shows an eagle with wings raised looking left. In its talons are arrows and olive branch. A wreath is below and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is above.
