1881-CC Morgan Silver Dollar (1881-CC S$1 Morgan) PCGS MS66 CAC. This frosty, white, almost cameo Carson City dollar is fully lustrous with just a hint of toning in Libertys hair and on the dentils. The grade of MS66 is confirmed by CAC. The strike is strong on both sides with every hair detail and feather easy to observe. For the sake of accuracy a few fly specks are noted in Libertys hair and cap.
In addition to requiring the Treasury to buy two million silver dollars a month, the Bland-Allison Act of 1878 required that the silver be domestically produced and made into silver dollars. These silver dollars were designed by George T. Morgan. The Bland-Allison Act also gave the silver dollar legal tender status. In 1904 production was halted because the supply of bullion was depleted. In 1918 the Pittman Act provided for the return of the Morgan dollar. It made its final appearance in 1921. It was followed by the Peace dollar of 1921 to 1935 that was designed by Anthony de Francisci.
