1890 Morgan Silver Dollar - 1890 Morgan S$1 NGC PF50. This rare, evenly circulated 1890 Proof Morgan Dollar has light devices with dark toning around the peripheries of both sides of the coin. Tints of grey, silver-grey, light lavender, and dark tan, with added hints of blue are present on the coins surfaces. The strike is full, as one would expect for a proof coin. The surfaces are original and show a mixture of light hairlines and abrasion marks; however, none is so obvious to require individual description. The CAC sticker indicates that the coin is of premium quality and well within the designated grade range.

George T. Morgan designed the Morgan silver dollar, which was issued every year from 1878 to 1904 and then again in 1921. Hundreds of millions of Morgan silver dollars were saved in bags of 1,000 each in bank vaults because the federal government created artificial demand for them to satisfy the Western silver interests. Some were melted in the 1918, but large quantities remained in bank vaults and were later bought by investors and collectors. Because many millions of Morgan silver dollars exist today in the hands of the public, the Morgan silver dollar has become the most widely collected coin of its era.

Occasionally a proof coin enters circulation and is treated as a business strike coin. However, such an occurrence in the Morgan dollar series is unusual. Only 11 proof coins in the entire Morgan dollar series have been certified PF50. With an original mintage of 590, all proof dollars of this date are rare. In its population report as of April 2012, CAC has stickered 5 Uncirculated proof 1890 Morgan sliver dollars.
