Gem Deep Cameo. Only 205 struck. This fabulous Gem proof Deep Cameo 1900 quarter eagles devices jump off the coin. It is the combination of contrast and strike that does it for this piece. The devices sparkle with satiny mint luster, and the fields are deep, chocolate brown and black mirrors.
The piece is clearly original and looks as if it has never seen the light of day. This is in stark contrast to many examples of this date that are often seen impaired because proof gold coinage often went into circulation when there were hard times. The piece has full details on the centers of the stars, Libertys hair, the eagles neck, and the area to the lower left of the shield. The surfaces are clean with no visible hairlines or contact marks. The white scuff marks on the reverse are on the holder not the coin.
In its population report PCGS shows 9 1900 quarter eagles certified at the Gem PR66 DCAM level.
