1911 Indian Head Half Eagle $5 ANACS MS60, Details. Mint luster shows within the devices of this 1911 Half Eagle despite its Details grade for cleaning. Except for a few light abrasion marks, the surfaces are clean. The strike is full on both sides with every detail easily apparent. The half eagle of 1911 was designed by Bela Lyon Pratt, a student and colleague of Augustus Saint-Gaudens. It shows a representation of a realistic Native American on the obverse and a standing eagle reminiscent of Saint-Gaudens eagle reverse. Despite President Roosevelts objection, the motto IN GOD WE TRUST had been added to the coinage. He felt it was blasphemous to have Gods name on a coin that might be used for immoral purposes.
