1934-D Oregon 50C ANACS MS64. Excellent surfaces characterize this obviously undergraded 1934-D Oregon Trail Half Dollar. Shimmering mint luster and outstanding peripheral toning add to the coins beauty. The strike is above average with typical weakness on the thumb and index finger holding the bow. The Oregon Train Memorial Half Dollar commemorates the trail and the pioneers who crossed it during the early 19th century. Since this issue commemorates no particular date, it was the first extended series of exploitative commemoratives.
With an original mintage of 7,006, the 1934-D is one of the lower mintages in the series. The lowest mintages were in 1939 with just over 3,000 coins struck at each mint.
