1982 MW Poland 1000Z, John Paul II Visit, KM # Y144, NGC MS66. Here is a Superb Gem Polish 1982 silver commemorative of John Paul IIs visit. The coin is lightly toned and shimmers with satiny mint luster. Touches of gold and tan are visible on both sides. The surfaces are original and extremely clean, as expected of a coin of this grade. The strike is strong with full details on both sides.
The coin depicts the Pope in profile facing left wearing his papal robes. Below is his name, Jan. Pawel. II. The reverse shows an Imperial eagle separating the date. The inscription POLSKA PZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA, or The Peoples Republic of Poland surrounds with the denomination below.
Although Pope John Paul II traveled to many countries, perhaps his most significant visit was to Poland in 1979. He uplifted the nations spirit and sparked the formation of Solidarity, which later brought freedom and human rights to Poland.
