1986 China 5 Yuan, KM-152, NGC MS69. 1986 1-ounce Gem Uncirculated China Great Wall Silver coin. This is a really nice looking coin with a beautiful design on both the obverse and reverse. On the obverse is a picture of the Great Wall of China; the reverse shows a Clipper Ship. The coin is a little larger than the size of a U.S. half-dollar and contains more than 22 grams of .900 pure silver. It has amazing detail in the strike. The Coin is sealed in a plastic capsule, and packaged in a nice wooden box. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

In 1866 the "great tea race" took place. Sixteen ships loaded with tea from China headed to London. The 15,000 mile trip took less than 90 days for the 4 clippers. The other 12 ships took over 120 days. The obverse shows a lonely lookout upon a long desolate stretch of The Great Wall. On the reverse is a Baltimore Clipper, first built by America to outrun the British fleet during our fight for independence. The Baltimores extra spread of sail and sleek hulls meant that they could "clip" the last inch of wind from the sails. They also proved invaluable to our early shipping and trading with the world. The first ships to arrive with needed goods often got paid premiums, strengthening the young American economy.
