1986 Piefort France S100F - 1986 Piedfort France Silver, KM-P972, 100 Francs NGC MS65. This fully lustrous 1986 French silver 100 Francs piefort commemorates the centennial of the Statue of Liberty. The coins silvery gun-metal finish attests to its originality. The piece is well struck with full details on Libertys face, her hair, and the reverse legends. The surfaces are clean for the grade with no notable abrasion marks or other distractions.
A piedfort coin is a presentation piece that has double thickness and twice the weight of the regular issue. The coin shows a close-up view of the front of the statue with eleven birds flying between the rays of her crown. The dates 1886 1986 are written in two lines in the right obverse field. Below a horizontal line is REPUBLIC FRANCAISE in two lines with a line in between. The reverse shows a liberty cap on a tree of liberty with the motto LIBERTE, EGALITE, FRATERNITE with the denomination and date below.
