1989 Cent - 1989 1C ANACS MS64 - 1989 1C Off-Center. Here is a red, near-Gem 1989 Lincoln cent that has been struck 10% off-center at 6:00. The coin is lustrous with virtually no visible abrasion marks. The top unstruck area has a proto rim which was created when the blank was made into a planchet. Reverse strike doubling is seen at the bottoms of ONE CENT.
An off-center coin is made by a striking error. During the striking process, the planchet fails to seat properly in the collar and is not correctly aligned between the dies. Off-center coins are described by the percentage of the design that is missing and the direction according to its clock position.
Mint State cent errors are always in demand and sought after by error collectors and Lincoln cent specialists.
