1994 China G25Y Unicorn (1993 China Gold 25 Yuan) NGC  PF69 UCAM, (KM # 678). Two unicorns are portrayed on this 25 Yuan proof ultra cameo coin. The coin has virtually no imperfections and a full strike, as expected for a proof 69. The fields have black mirrors, and the devices are frosted. The obverse of the coin shows a figure riding on an Eastern unicorn with the date below.

The Eastern unicorn, also called the Qilin or Kirin is a mythical hoofed Chinese creature that is seen is various East Asian cultures. It is said to be a good omen and that it brings serenity or prosperity. It is actually a misnomer to call it a unicorn since it is a chimerical animal. The reverse shows a Western style unicorn, the denomination to the left, and rose sprays below. The Western style unicorn has a horn on its forehead, a billy-goat beard, a lions tail, and cloven hooves. It is usually portrayed as being good, solitary, and always mysterious and beautiful.
