2000 MW Poland, Silver 10Z, Solidarity Anniversary, KM # Y-395, NGC PF67 UCAM. This lovely 10Z 2000 commemorative coin from Poland celebrates the anniversary of Solidarity. The coin is very lightly toned at the rims but shows strong cameo contrast with satiny device over mirrored fields. Slight haze, more on the reverse than the obverse, attests to the coins originality. The surfaces are clean with no hairlines or contact marks visible.
The obverse shows two children on the right side of the coin looking to the left at the Solidarity logo. The dates 1980-2000 are below a map of Europe, which is above the children. The reverse has the image of the Imperial eagle with the inscription RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA, which means the Republic of Poland. The date is divided by the eagle, and the denomination is below.
Solidarity is the trade union led by Lech Walesa which many believe started anti-communism wave that liberated Poland from the Soviet Union and ultimately led to the destruction of communism in Eastern Europe and the end of the Soviet Union itself.
In its population report, NGC shows 3 other coins certified at the PF67 UCAM level with 13 higher.
