1859-C
Gold Dollar - The 1859-C Gold Dollar had a small
mintage of 5,235 pieces. This was the last gold dollar struck
at Charlotte. Usually pieces of this date and mint are weakly
struck on poor quality planchets.
The borders are always wide and softly struck.
Grading of these coins is usually by remaining luster and
surface quality. Three MS63 coins are the highest certified
at both grading services.
