J-825 (J825) 1870 10C NGC PF66. R-7. J-825 1870 10c Standard Silver Dime. This is an exceptionally rare pattern which features William Barbers rendition of Liberty seated and facing left. Her right hand holds a shield with LIBERTY across it while her left hand holds an olive branch. A pole with a cap atop it is to the left. The date and the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA are located along the rims.
On the reverse, the word STANDARD sits above a wreath encircling 10 CENTS. Struck in silver with a reeded edge, to date only 8 have been certified at PCGS/NGC respectively (including any resubmissions) and only this single specimen has achieved this lofty grade with none certified higher.
As one would expect from a piece in such a high grade, the strike is magnificent and the fields are smooth and clear. Wondrous deep blue and apricot tones are found on both the obverse and reverse giving this delightful example a knockout look. This truly is an incredibly rare top pop pattern that is equally beautiful making it a perfect addition to any elite collection.
