(1890) Le Nid Paris Mint Medal This lovely bronze medal, designed by Daniel Dupuis, depicts a nude woman and toddler in peaceful woods. It is 36.5 mm x 65.5 mm and weighs 64.19 grams. It was struck in bronze at the Paris Mint.
Dupuis was the son of a painter. He became an art student at Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris when he was sixteen years old. In 1872 he won the Prix de Rome for medals. When he returned from Rome, he exhibited several cast portrait medals. He made numerous commemorative medals such as those for the Election of Jules Grevy as President in 1879 and the Municipality of Paris in 1880. He also made popular medals such as a Madonna and Marriage in 1892 and one for the Automobile Club of France in 1896. In 1899 his career ended prematurely when his wife killed him in his sleep.
