As promised this week features part 2 of purchases and deals made at the ANA in Ilinois. This was a very busy ANA and despite the jitters in the stock market which appeared just at the worst time, there have not been any reverberations and those of us who disregarded the temporary blip in the stock market have been pleasantly rewarded with some incredible acquisitions, some of which are very rare and may not present themselves again for years into the future. This is good news for those of us who have collections or numismatics as part of our retirement portfolios and should be a motivating factor for those who are sitting in the dugout watching. Again however may I please stress the importance of communicating what interests you so that I can then help you with the purchase of the kind of coins you want, or help with selling the coins you which to liquidate for whatever reason. This is a good time to leave the dugout and take the field!
This weeks coins for sale offerings begin with a Scarce early San Francisco Eagle of 1874 Eagle NGC AU-53, next up a rare, in fact the 2nd lowest mintage of any Carson City gold coin a Choice about uncirculated 1878-CC Eagle in NGC AU-55. a Very affordable 1903-O Eagle from New Orleans in choice uncirculated, next a choice uncirculated 1915-S Indian Eagle with Dazzling color & luster, low population and Lovely all original early Type 1 Double Eagle 1854-S from San Francisco with additional approval from CAC, then a Blazing 1860 Double Eagle from the SS Republic in choice mint state MS-62, to an unbelievable and condition census , among the finest known stunner of a Civil War 1862 $20 SS Republic in NGC MS-63, next a 1878-S $20 in very choice uncirculated PCGS MS63 with Only 2 graded finer, a great rarity in the Carson City Double eagle series - 1878-CC $20 NGC AU55, Notably scarce Type 3 1906 Double Eagle-Philadelphiamint issue - PCGS MS64 CAC, a wonderful, historic and Beautiful hammered gold from France. (1328-1350). Philippe VI tied for Finest at NGC in NGC MS-64 with NONE BETTER that seems quite reasonably priced.
