I hope all is well. This week we would like to continue with our soft suggestions to you in developing a plan with regards to your collecting whether it be for fun or profit. This week please find a neat way to collect and invest in rare coins. Remember the old type sets in capital plastics holders? Well this is a notch above that. The old way of assembling a type set, or one of each type of gold coin in this case was just to randomly select common date coins and voilà, a type set is born. This went on for decades and even today you'll see them at every
coin show.
The best way to assemble a quality type set however is to choose either common coins at the top of the grading scale in which case you will still have common coins when it's complete, or the best way is to choose quality and scarcity or even rarity in each coin you select. Make your choices and your investment dollars count! Maximize their effectiveness and in our opinion this is one way to do just that. Choose better coins and you'll have a better type set when complete.
I may have an 1850 Double Eagle in MS-61 if you would like to purchase as a set and have the double eagle in choice uncirculated as well. The cost of the MS-61 is mid-30's. This would make a terrific set to put in someone's Christmas stocking or in your investment portfolio to save for a rainy day. You can also do this with other dates, also with other mints and have sets of Phillies and San Fransico's, Carson City etc. There's a variety of ways to do this to keep it exciting. A number of clients have also done this with early material and while challenging as heck, it\s well worth what you have to do in order to put a set together!
