January 7th, 2026 - First Rare Coin Offerings of 2026

Hello All,

I hope all is well. This is Florida Week, the world famous FUN (Florida United Numismatists) convention where as many as 25,000 wild and crazy coin collectors all wearing eyeglasses and sporting cowlicks (actually wearing down coats and sporting briefcases and cell phones) will descend on Orlando to buy, sell, attend seminars and learning classes, register their kids in the various y/n programs. We are in a very active market. Should be FUN, pun intended.

This weeks hand picked offerings begin with a very choice about uncirculated 1785 Bar Copper Cent, one of the coins that circulated in New York after the American Revolution, before the first United States Mint began operations in 1792. Next up a rare 1794 Large Cent, Head of 1795 in choice extremely fine. This is one of the rare early coins that was used in commerce post Revolution beginning of the US coinage system started in Philadelphia in 1792. The stories this coin could tell... Next up a very above average and scarce 1850-D Gold dollar from Dahlonega in choice uncirculated condition followed by a desirable Civil War dated gold dollar of 1864 also in uncirculated condition and choice for the grade. The next coin is an uber tough gold quarter eagle of 1873 w/closed 3 in superb gem PCGS MS-66 followed by an uber rare 1880 Philadelphia mint Double Eagle in a choice uncirculated grade that we have not seen in a while even checking our archives cannot find a single specimen in the last 10++ years, suffice it to say it may be a long time till we see another especially as nice as PCGS MS-62. Next is a 1673 France LD'Or PCGS MS62, quite astounding really a choice uncirculated coin that has seen both the American Revolution, the French Revolution and so much other turmoil while remaining in someone's cabinet ,safe and choice uncirculated for hundreds of years. Quite remarkable price especially if you compare it with similar size early US gold half eagles. At the time of this writing I have this example and 2 others in similar range available which should be a delight for the earky French gold specialist, collector or investor who compares this coin with other half eagle size earlies.
