March 13th, 2025 - Collectors and Investors Rare Coins

Hello All

I hope all is well. Funny thing about coin collectors, it's rare to meet one who is willing to take a loss on his rare coins unless there's a real compelling reason such as using the money from the sale to help pay for a new favorite or an important rarity that the collector knows he won't see again anytime soon. Come to think of it it seems that the coin "investor" behaves the same way.

How to differentiate between collector-investor, collector-investor ? The investor has no care whatsoever about the coins? I'm sorry but I haven't met many investors like that in the last 40 or so years I've been in the coin business. Some say that but when it comes time to sell is when you can really witness the change from investor to collector.

Also interesting is it's usually the collector who makes money on this coin collection, like a successful investor would like to be able to claim. My suggestion? Collect a few good coins, buy a couple of books, maybe go to a major coin show like FUN ( Florida United Numismatists Convention ) where you can see thousands of collectors, or collectors investors having a great time with rare coins. Learn baby learn.

This week's headliners begin with a very reasonably priced 1652 Oak Tree Schilling, followed by a gem+ all white and frosty Peace dollar to a selectioiin of US gold coins and finally with a neat and rare gold coin from France.

Just a few of this weeks favorites: ( Please remember the hundreds of coins on the website! )

Please don't hesitate to contact me to discuss these as well as any other coins you are considering whether you are buying-selling - or consigning to auction. Let me help!
