May 22nd, 2024 - Double Eagle Gold Delight

Hello All

I hope all is well. We thought this week I should share with you some of the batter date and rare gold coin listings you'll see listed on US Rare Coin Investments website but this week focus on Double Eagle Gold Coins.

Among all the gold coins the USA has produced, perhaps the gold coins most well known, and collected on a global scale are American Gold Double Eagles. don't forget that when gold ownership was declared illegal in the USA in 1933, many of the double eagles thought to have been melted down were actually sold to European banks and after it became legal for Americans to own gold again, buyers were already in place in Europe to buy our prized gold coins from the banks and bring them home.

American Double Eagle Gold Coins are the big kids in the hobby with the only larger circulating gold coins were the few $50's that were produced. For all intents and purposes, it's the double eagles which captures the most astute numismatists curiosity and the double eagles that attract those who can afford the depth of funds whether purchasing a few rarities as a collector or as an investment to the serious collector and investor who strives toward building a set of these great coins and if not a complete set, a set of specialized mints. All the double eagles struck in New Orleans for example, or Carson City, Philadelphia or even a "type" set of US Double Eagles comprised of one example or type from each of the mints that produced them etc. Putting a few of these golden giants aside or building a collection can be a very fulfilling and rewarding venture.

Please take a look at the preliminary descriptions on the listings that follow and follow up with more in-depth research prior to adding to your collection and/or portfolio. Please bear in mind that there are active buyers who subscribe to our list so if you see something you've waited for for awhile, it would be my suggestion to begin the inquiries as soon as possible as at that point I can mark "hold" on that specific coin which will allow you more time to do what you have to do in order to pursue the specimen.

For anyone who likes these big gold coins, we hope you'll find a coin or 2 that fits with your plans as this is an exceptional grouping with more listed on the website!

Please note some (but not all) of this weeks highlighted special coins, starting with choice mint state first year of issue for the double eagles - $20 1850 NGC MS61, followed by the first New Orleans also in $20 1850-O NGC AU53, choice mint state $20 1852 NGC MS62 with nice color, 1854 $20 Large Date NGC AU55 CAC, $20 1854 Small Date NGC MS61 CAC low population of only 6 specimens in this grade w/2 better ( CAC Pop ), 1855-S CACG AU58 CAC beautiful and lustrous, 1859-S DDO PCGS MS60 shows only 13 in all grades at PCGS, 1st year of the Civil War-1861 NGC AU53, 1864 $20 AU-53, 1865-S Bro Jo PCGS MS60, gorgeous 1866-S Motto PCGS AU55 CAC, lovely 1876-S PCGS MS61 CAC, very choice uncirculated 1879-S NGC MS63, 1882-CC PCGS MS61, choice uncirculated NGC MS-63 1893, near-gem 1897 PCGS MS64+, choice plus 1905 PCGS MS63+, and 1922 CACG MS61 CAC
