War Gold! A very Elusive Type One Double Eagle. Just
42 pieces were recovered from the S.S. Republic, and
most surviving examples of the 1864 double eagle are
non-shipwreck coins. This still-lustrous near-Mint example
has the original look of a coin that never saw the bottom
of the ocean, with pleasing medium-gold patina and a
few orange accents. Very very premium quality and one
that you could wait years to find and never get one.
