One of the great rarities in the entire run of double eagles from 1850-1904 and one of the rarest double eagles struck in Carson City, this choice uncirculated specimen . Beware of using pasty comps floating around. The present specimen is a sharply struck and lustrous example of this noted rarity.
Remember the tv show Tombstone Territory While the show was portraying life in Arizona Territories, this coin was being struck and transported by stagecoach, maybe on down to Tombstone where along the way there were robbers and Indians who may have had other ideas.
