These are figures directly from NGC ( Numismatic Guarantee Corp ) As you can see, a number of Standing Liberty Quarters, the series which contains the 1916 and 1917 quarters otherwise known as America's first "lewd" coins as they feature Miss Liberty, er, topless which was too much for the public to take in 1916/1917 and so the US Mint changed the design in 1918 and added a coat of armor on Miss Liberty's chest!
Some series in United States Gold coins have fared somewhat better and it would appear that there's more collectors than ever before entering the market which is having an impact on prices. If you don't have a plan ) collectors do you have a plan? ), now is the time to establish one and stick to it.
Some investors and collectors also subscribe to the "Box of Twenty" plan as both NGC and PCGS boxes contain exactly 20 coins so there are a large number of investors and collectors who acquire a rarity here and there and add it to the box. This is a good strategy for those who do not have the time or patience to attempt a complete set of any given series.
